Untouched Elandsbaai

Elandsbaai is about a 2.5 hour drive north of Cape Town, along the West Coast. It is one of my favourite places in the world – quiet, rugged and virtually untouched by tourists. Over the past 8 or so years, I have enjoyed long restful weekends in Elands, mountain biking, hiking to bushman paintings and more recently even trying my hand at surfing in the icy cold waters!

Apart from lazing around on the pristine white beaches, catching a wave or chatting to the locals in the hotel bar, Elands offers a couple rustic restaurants in the main town. About 5km inland, built alongside the vlei, is a working farm called Vensterklip. It offer a fabulous farm restaurant & bar as well as varioud types of accommodation options (camping and cottages).

If you are looking for complete peace and tranquility, I can highly recommend Elandsbaai. Just don’t tell too many people about it 😉
