Bantry Bay is a small suburb that overlooks the rocky coastline of the Atlantic Seaboard and offers amazing views of Lion’s Head and the ocean. Initially called Botany Bay and named after a botantical garden that was planted here to cultivate medicinal herbs, but this changed to Bantry Bay during the First World War.

This little piece of heaven is practically wind free and Bantry Bay is ideally situated right on the rocks in one of the most exclusive bays on the Atlantic Seaboard. The crashing waves, glorious sunsets and natural shelter from the wind make Bantry Bay the best base from which to explore Cape Town.

Bantry Bay is within close proximity of Table Mountain and the cableway as well as the V&A Waterfront, which is a mere 5 minutes away. The suburb has many great restaurants and it even boasts its own deli. Because Bantry Bay is right on the edge of Sea Point, you have a wide variety of restaurant choices that range from Chinese takeaways to eat-in Thai food and everything in-between.

Bantry Bay Villas and Apartments are available for rentals and often are priced on the higher end of the market due to the exclusivity of the area.

The summer season falls between September and April, with temperatures averaging around 22 to 30°C. Between May and August the chilly wind and heavy rains arrive, so it is not a good time for sunbathing or swimming.

During the December holidays Bantry Bay can become a little crowded because most South Africans also take their annual break around this time. Bantry Bay does not have that many shopping centres itself, but all the neighbouring suburbs do, which will definitely satisfy all your retail requirements.
